***Update:*** If you're looking for a great site for Crazy Quilt Ideas, check out Sharon B's blog on Crazy Quilting. She even has a block layout template. To see it click here: View blog on Crazy QuiltingThis month we will all make blocks for
Since you will be furnishing all your own materials; there will be no charge this month.
For consistency we request that you foundation piece your block on a washed and machine dried piece of unbleached muslin or similar weight cotton. Washing and drying will hopefully eliminate shrinkage in the completed block.
Cut a generously sized piece of muslin and mark both the 9" completed block and the seam allowance in the center. Using your prettiest fabrics you can either turn under the edge of each patch as it is added or use the flip and sew method to cover the design area. If you choose to use fusible interfacing, please use a very light weight to preserve the drape of the finished block. Trims can be added in the seams, or you can embellish seams and patches with either hand or machine embroidery. Couching, ribbon work, beads and thread play are other options.
Let your creative juices flow in designing your little masterpiece, we will accept them at both the August and September meetings. Happy quilting!
We will be eagerly waiting to see the products of your creativity.
