Congratulations to the winners of our first Comfort Quilt Challenge!

Men's Quilt - Carol Summers

Women's Quilt - Gerri Pymm

Children's Quilt - Pat Rosander

There were 38 wonderful quilts entered in the contest and the special judges had tough decisions to make in choosing the one special winner in each category. Our judges deserve a very special “thank-you” for giving up their evening to help us with our contest. They are Linda Carter of Quilter’s Quarters, Hanford, Carolyn McCray of Cottage Quilts, Fresno and Kathy Beechinor of Quilters’ Paradise, Clovis. Be sure to say “hello” and “thanks” the next time you shop in their stores.

I also want to thank each and every quilter for the time, effort and talents displayed in these wonderful quilts; I hope you all know how much these quilts will mean to many less fortunate individuals.

Contest participants were:

  • Men’s Quilts: Carol Summers, Sue Rosa, Jackie Schwarting Powers, Joanie Barker, Terrilyn Myers (2), JoAnn Crimi, Sue Vildosola (2)

Finally, I would like to thank my special volunteers Sue, Sheron, Barbara, Sandra, Carol, and Susan who helped assist the judges, get every quilt signed in, moved around and toted to Susan’s car at the end of the evening. Also thanks to two special ladies, Lor-Rae for running the raffle and Sue for manning the camera.

THANK-YOU, ONE AND ALL!

Jo Anne Krebs (SJVQG’s Brown Bag Lady)

P. S. If you took home a scrap bag, but were not able to finish the quilt for the contest, I hope you will be able to finish it and bring it in to be donated at a later time. Your quilts are always appreciated.
